Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from March of that year.

The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring reactions on court had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

He rescued four early break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
