The Gaming Giant Brings Onboard Popular Battle Royale Producer to Revitalize Struggling Hero Shooter Project Ethos

The renowned publisher has welcomed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the development team at 31st Union, which is currently working on the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Shift Follows Mixed Reception

The new appointee steps into the role of studio head at the development studio following the departure of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' underwhelming initial reveal last autumn.

Recently, the company's top executive a key figure notified employees about this strategic move through an internal memo, which stressed that playtesting had indicated the requirement for a distinct game identity.

Ismailer expressed that the team is now reimagining Project Ethos with a revised approach, aiming to satisfy community desires.

A Pattern of Strategic Hires

This announcement mirrors a comparable step taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise development group.

Here is the full message from Ismailer's memo:

Dear Team—

I understand you all just completed your meeting - I trust you’re as thrilled as I am with the recent updates. Last time I shared you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most driven and talented developers we have had the chance to partner with - and we’re excited for that relationship to continue.”

With your dedication and flexibility, especially over the last year, you continue to prove that.

The community feedback from last autumn’s Project ETHOS demo was revealing. It affirmed the promise of a action-packed game but told us we still had improvements to make. It revealed the need for a sharper vision.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the criticism to mind and reimagined Project ETHOS with a renewed goal - one that’s poised to fulfill its promise to our players.

The trust in this project increases every day. To advance the remarkable development you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce Ben Brinkman as the latest Director of the team. After some time of conversations, Ben officially joins us on Monday, October 20.

His leadership and background in the PVP shooter space is vast, having devoted the last 15 years creating and leading some of the most popular series in the industry, such as the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, Apex Legends.

I invite you all in greeting Ben next week. We are all excited to persist seeing the development of the game in the months to ahead.

David

"Challenge the rivals with fresh skills, risks, and obstacles that evolve every session. Do you leave securely with your valuable rewards? Or go big, gamble everything, and trust your squad can earn top ranking? The choice is up to you."

Project Ethos does not have an confirmed release date or consoles, but enthusiasts can expect additional details as production progresses.
